Goal: Redesign an article spread to match the content of the article
During a typography class at The University of Texas at Austin, our brief was to select an article and redesign the headline spread. I chose Clearing the Air, an interview with the artist Katrin Fridriks.
When redesigning the spread, I wanted to showcase the artist's work and mimic her unique style in the headline. To make the type seem more fluid and organic, much like her abstract paintings, I used a scanner and played with movement while scanning. After multiple runs, I picked the most legible scan, then paired it with a sans serif typeface to add a layer of clarity amongst the abstract chaos.
